Nakakagutom, bigla na laang naisip ko ang barbekyu ni Aling Nene sa Vito Cruz.....marami dito sa paligid sa Ayala, sa Glorietta pero yun pa din ang hinahanap ng panlasa ko.....halika punta tayo.......

Natikman nyo na ba ang Makati Supermart Spaghetti?

Before Jollibee or even Tropical Hut came out with the Filipino version of the Italian Spaghetti, there was Makati Supermarket’s spaghetti sold in their coffee shop sa saktong tapat ng entrance ng The landmark. This is probably how the sweetish Filipino spaghetti evolved. Kung maasim ang Italian Spaghetti, ang bersyon ng Pinoy ay matamis!!!Filled with vienna sausage, ham strips, ground beef and grated cheese, the sauce of Makati Supermarket’ spaghetti is sweet with a tinge of spiciness. Naalala ko pa ang serving nun di ko talaga maubos ubos, e paano ba naman 25 pa laang ang waist line ko nuon compared sa 38 na ngayon he he he. Dun sa mga di pa na experience ang kakaibang sarap ng Makati Supermarket Spaghetti kasi wala na sila after giniba yung original arcade to give way sa construction ng Glorietta (but if I remember it right, nasunog yata ang Makati Supermart nung late 80's even before all arcades at the Makati Commercial Center were torn down), matatagpuan pa sila sa Makati Supermarket sa Alabang Town Center (ka-bak to bak ng Luk Yuen), at dinig ko, meron din silang branch sa Cash and Carry sa may South Super Highway sa Makati. Kung taga Malabon o Navotas ka, sulit pa din ang byahe pa Alabang he he he. naku, plugging na ito...dapat sumingil na ako sa kanila he he he

P.S. di nagbago ang lasa ng spaghetti mula nuon hanggang ngayon...di tulad ng baked mac ng Greenwich, super yummy din yung original recipe nila nuon sa Fast food sa makati at sa Greenhills...nakakaubos ako ng 2 servings in one sitting with my 25" waist and 98 Lbs frame! Miss ko na din yun!!!

Sina Tito, Vic and Joey nga ba ang umimbento ng salitang TAP-SI-LOG?

Magaling at iba ang Pinoy..sa araw araw, iba't ibang salita ang nadadagdag sa bokabularyo natin...matagal ko ng tinatanong sa sarili ko, sino at buhay pa kaya ang taong nakaisip ng salitang TAP-SI-LOG? Ngayon kung buhay pa, sino kaya sya?.....sino?....sino? Minsan gusto kong gaygayin ang kahabaan ng san Dionisio sa Paranaque kung saan nagmula ang mga tapsihan at tanungin kung ano san nagsimula ang salitang ito.....sa San Dionisio kung saan naroon ang masarap na original na Tapang Kabayo. Naaalala ko tuloy yung mga unang taon ko sa PLDT (early 80's pa yun!!!) kung saan napakahilig naming dumiskubre ng iba't ibang kainan kung saan-saan..sa West Avenue...sa Binondo...sa Vito Cruz...sa Reposo at hanggang dun nga sa San Dionisio, wala pa nuong Mak Donald's at Jalibi - Tropical Hut pa laang sa malapit sa Aviary sa Greenbelt ang nagiisang burger outlet sa Makati, mahal pa naman kasi sa standard nuon ang Dayrit's .... ang sabi sa Wikipedia, sina Tito, Vic and Joey daw...pero sila nga kaya?

Tapsilog is the term used when tapa, fried rice ("sinangag"), and fried egg ("itlog") are combined into one meal, which is served primarily during breakfast. In Tagalog, a restaurant that primarily serves tapa is called a tapahan, tapsihan or tapsilugan. According to some sources, "tapsilog"[1] and "tapsihan"[2] are slang words. However, these terms are used by those restaurants and many Filipinos of all social strata. Tapsilog and tapsihan, therefore, may be considered standard words in the Filipino language and not slang.
The word tapsilog has spawned many copycat dishes, all having fried rice (or garlic fried rice) and fried egg in it and suffixed with silog. Examples are:

Bacsilog - bacon, fried rice and fried egg
Bangsilog - bangus (milkfish), fried rice and fried egg
Bisteksilog - beefsteak, fried rice and fried egg
Dangsilog - danggit (rabbitfish) , fried rice and fried egg
Chosilog - chorizo, fried rice and fried egg
Chiksilog - chicken, fried rice and fried egg
Cornsilog - corned beef, fried rice and fried egg

There are small restaurants in many barangays in the Philippines that serve tapsilog, however large business establishment chains have also ventured into selling tapa, such as BD's, GoodAhs!, Max's, Tapa King, Goto King , & Goto Tapsi Republic . Due to the popularity of this cuisine, some fast food chains in the Philippines also include tapsilog on their breakfast menus including Jollibee, ChowKing, McDonald's and Sinangag Express.

'Tawilis"

Panahon na naman ng masarap na "tawilis"....

Napakasarap ang tawilis....lalo na kung binalot sa dahon ng saging tapos pinangat sa santol at pinaanghang sa sili.....tapos may kaulam na ginisang kalabasa, okra, sitaw at mais....heaven!!!

Tawilis populations are found only in a single lake on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. Taal Lake, a large body of water in the province of Batangas that used to be the caldera of an ancient volcano. Before recent history, the lake was but an extension of the entirely-marine Balayan Bay. A major eruption in the 16th century essentially sealed the lake from the sea, eventually leading to its waters becoming non-saline. Sardinella tawilis is believed to be one of a few formerly-marine species trapped within the lake that have evolved into purely freshwater species.
